About Neighbours on Patrol Canada

Building safer communities through citizen engagement and cooperation

Our Mission

Neighbours on Patrol Canada (NOPCA) is dedicated to empowering communities across Canada to take an active role in neighborhood safety through organized citizen patrols, education, and collaboration with law enforcement agencies.

Our History

NOPCA was founded in 2022 by a group of concerned citizens in Edmonton, Alberta who wanted to address rising property crime in their neighborhoods. What began as a single community patrol has grown into a nationwide network of chapters dedicated to community safety.

Our Vision

We envision communities where neighbors know each other, look out for one another, and work together to create safe environments for all residents. NOPCA believes that engaged citizens are the foundation of community safety and that organized patrols can significantly reduce crime while building stronger neighborhood bonds.

What We Do

  • Organize regular community patrols by trained volunteers
  • Provide safety education and resources to community members
  • Facilitate communication between residents and law enforcement
  • Maintain a reporting system for suspicious activities
  • Coordinate emergency response during community crises
  • Advocate for community safety initiatives at municipal and provincial levels

Our Approach

NOPCA operates on the principle of "observe and report" - volunteers are trained to identify suspicious activities and report them to the appropriate authorities. We do not encourage confrontation or vigilantism. All volunteers undergo thorough training and background checks before participating in community patrols.

Our Core Values

Community First

We prioritize the needs and safety of all community members in everything we do.

Collaboration

We work together with residents, businesses, and law enforcement for maximum impact.

Respect

We treat all community members with dignity and respect, regardless of background.
